Make Room for Growth

There’s a moment many women experience that rarely gets talked about out loud.

From the outside, everything looks fine.

Life works.
The system works.
The arrangement works.

But deep down, you know something isn’t quite right anymore.

You’ve outgrown the space you’re in.

Not just physically …  emotionally, mentally, and professionally.

I often describe it like this:

It’s like being a plant that has outgrown its container.

At first, the container served you well. It protected you. It helped you get started. It made life easier during a season when support and proximity mattered.

But eventually, the roots start pressing against the edges.

And when that happens, growth becomes harder and harder,  not because the plant is unhealthy, but because it no longer has the space it needs.

When “Good Enough” Stops Being Enough

Years ago, my family lived in a small two-bedroom house with our growing family. At the time, the situation made sense for a lot of practical reasons. It provided stability and support during a season when our children were little.

But as the years passed, our family grew by four feet.

And so did the quiet realization that we were running out of room (not just physically, but emotionally and professionally)

I found myself feeling stuck.

Not because I lacked ideas.

Not because I lacked ambition.

But because the environment around me made it difficult to create the kind of autonomy and focus I needed to grow,  both as a person and as a business owner.

If you’re a woman building something of your own, you know how important that space can be.

Space to think.
Space to work.
Space to make decisions about your life and your future.

When that space doesn’t exist, even the most motivated person can start to feel stagnant.

The Decision That Took Longer Than I Expected

For a long time, we talked about making a change.

But intention and action don’t always happen at the same speed.

It’s easy to stay where things are familiar.
It’s easy to stay where things feel manageable.

Sometimes we stay because we don’t want to disappoint people.

Sometimes we stay because we’re trying to keep the peace.

And sometimes we stay because we convince ourselves we should be grateful for what we have … even if it no longer fits the life we’re trying to build.

But eventually, the realization became unavoidable:

If our family, and my work, were going to grow, we needed a different environment.

So we made the decision to move.

Growth Often Comes With Discomfort

I wish I could tell you that the transition was simple.

It wasn’t.

Big decisions rarely are.

Change can bring unexpected challenges. It can stir up emotions. It can force you to stand firm in ways you never expected.

But something else happens when you create the space you need.

Movement returns.

Energy returns.

Clarity returns.

Once we made the change, I started doing things that had felt impossible before.

I wrote a book.
I began networking more intentionally.
I started putting myself out into the world in ways I hadn’t before.

Not because I suddenly became someone new.

But because I finally had the room to grow.

What That Season Taught Me

Looking back now, the biggest lesson wasn’t about the move itself.

It was about resilience.

I learned that I’m far more capable than I ever gave myself credit for.

I learned that creating space for growth sometimes requires difficult decisions.

And I learned that honoring the person you’re becoming is not selfish. it’s necessary.

Your Tiny Win:

Today, pick one idea you’ve been thinking about and take one small action toward it. Record it, write it, or schedule it. Momentum begins with one step.

If You’re Feeling Stuck Right Now

If you’ve been feeling like a plant in a container that’s too small, I want you to know something.

There’s nothing wrong with you.

You may simply be ready for a bigger space.

Growth doesn’t mean the past was wrong.

It simply means you’re paying attention to the future.

And sometimes the most courageous thing you can do for yourself, your family, and the work you’re building  is make room for the next version of your life to take root.

Because when you finally give yourself the space to grow, amazing things can happen.

You just have to trust that you’re ready for it.
